The international racing season 2011 is finally on and Elvstrøm Sails left the stalls in convincing style
An impressive field of some of the best racing teams in international sailing took on each other at the launch of the racing season 2011 at MAIOR in Kiel this weekend.
In the X-35 class a heavy battle took place between Danish "Oxygen" skippered by Morten Ulrikkeholm and German "Xen" skippered by Torsten Bastiansen. The two teams fought severely throughout the seven races. Of a total of seven races three races in the class were determined by the jury and Torsten Bastiansen and "Xen" ended up taking their first title this year leaving Morten Ulrikkeholm and "Oxygen" in second place. Both powered by EPEX sails as it also goes for the yacht that took four overall, German "NiRaMo X-treme" skippered by Sönke Meier-Sawatzki.
In the ORCi-class Jesper Bank, Commercial Director at Elvstrøm Sails, skippered German "Westwind" to an overall second position four points ahead of Swedish "Gertrud", skippered by Lena Having. It's the Swedish teams first season with an Elvstrøm-wardrobe and the excellent job they did in Kiel calls for some very interesting perspectives!
Both "Xen", "Oxygen" and "Gertrud" are powered by our EPEX sails and they are in our focus in terms of development. Therefore we at Elvstrøm Sails would like to congratulate all the teams on an excellent result at MAIOR 2011 and thank them for a promising beginning of this years sailing season!
